Workshops for children and the young

They take place twice a week at the Children's Department once a week and the participants are mostly primary school children. The workshops welcome all those who want to develop their creativity and become familiar with the library, computers and multimedia.

All activities are based on the Education for Peace, Tolerance and Cooperation principle (conducted by UNICEF and Croatian Libraries). The workshops are always well visited and fun for children as they take an active part in making puppets, dramatic, artistic and music performances.

Acquisition and Cataloguing Department

The cataloguing of books has been computerized since 1990. A user can search the “Book” data base or traditional catalogues in the following ways:

  • Alphabetical catalogue – items are selected by a writer's surname or by title if a work has more than three authors.
  • Specialized catalogue – items are selected according to specialized fields.
  • Subject catalogue – items are selected according to subjects, notions and themes dealt with in a book.

Our plans are to computerize all library services.
